Globe’s deployment positions The Philippines as among the global first to explore wireless optical infrastructure at national scale.

PHILIPPINES, 23 FEB 2026: Globe’s partnership with Transcelestial marks a decisive shift to accelerate the Philippines’ 5G future with the rollout of over 400 wireless laser links across the country over the next three years.

Globe will expand its use of Transcelestial’s wireless laser communication technology with over 400 laser links for last-mile and backhaul connectivity that will be deployed across its network. More on Manila Bulletin

Joel Agustin, Senior Vice President for Engineering and Network Planning at Globe said: “Globe’s strategy recognises that no single technology will define the future of national networks. The move to deploy Transcelestial lasers represents not just a continuation of those efforts, but an acceleration and a commitment to bring better access to more Filipinos, at speed. By combining these layers, Globe aims to create a more flexible and future-ready network, one that can adapt to rising capacity needs, environmental constraints, and the rapid expansion of digital services.”

Rohit Jha, CEO and Co-Founder of Transcelestial said: “The coming years will bring a more scalable, resilient, and future-ready network for Filipinos nationwide. Our 400-link rollout with Globe is the start and a signal that the country is embracing new infrastructure models to overcome old constraints, and accelerating toward a more connected digital economy.”

After further validation in 2026, Transcelestial systems will unlock new possibilities for inter-island connectivity, rapid backbone upgrades, and disaster-resilient communication paths in addition to rural and coastal expansion. This would make the Philippines one of the first countries globally to explore wireless optical infrastructure at national scale.

Transcelestial’s technology has already proven itself across multiple environments, from backhaul support in Visayas and Mindanao to handling high-demand scenarios at the Philippine Arena during a large-scale event in 2024. These early deployments gave Globe the operational confidence to scale the technology nationwide.

Transcelestial’s technology directly responds to unique terrain challenges faced by the Philippines’ island geography. Fiber is essential, but laying cable across coastlines, mountains, and disaster-prone terrain can be slow and costly. Wireless laser links provide:

  • Fiber-class capacity for 5G and small cells
  • Rapid deployment without construction delays
  • Secure, interference-free connectivity
  • Flexible use cases for events, emergencies, and temporary sites

Asticom, a key partner since 2023, supports Transcelestial’s rollout in the Philippines. Through its engineering and tech solutions arm, Asticom provides critical on-the-ground engineering and deployment, and ensures that this high-tech infrastructure not only arrives but integrates seamlessly with Globe’s network operations to deliver next-generation connectivity.

Mharicar Castillo-Reyes, President and CEO of Asticom, said: “We are proud to enable Globe’s high-tech rollout by bridging the gap between cutting-edge innovation and local infrastructure. Our goal is to build meaningful connections that improve Filipino lives, and partnering with Transcelestial allows us to accelerate that vision through reliable, future-ready connectivity.”

Asticom is a digital-first shared services and outsourcing company that empowers businesses with the right people, technology, and engineering solutions to drive growth and operational efficiency.
