Transcelestial, a company building technology for superfast global Internet distribution, will accelerate the deployment of its laser network into Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Macau, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand andVietnam with digital infrastructure distributor, Exclusive Networks.

“Higher Internet demand of up to 70% in some countries, especially during COVID-19, has brought global telecom infrastructure closer to a tipping point and it is no longer sustainable to rely on physical cables for online connectivity. Bringing our wireless laser communication technology across Asia Pacific with Exclusive Networks marks our first major investment to help bridge the connectivity divide  to weeks as opposed to months or years with fiber optic cables,” said Rohit Jha, CEO and Co-Founder of Transcelestial.

The majority of the world’s population today still do not have access to Internet connectivity, with almost 2 billion people being just within 10km of the nearest fiber optic cable. The main deterrent in having ubiquitous internet delivery in cities is the physical fiber cable network itself, which is usually very costly and slow to implement.

COVID-19 across Asia Pacific has resulted in delays of up to 24 months to roll out fiber optic cables typically needed in Last Mile Connectivity for 5G, home and office broadband and enterprises.

Transcelestial’s technology relies on lasers instead, which makes it possible to beam fiber-grade Internet without the need for any wires between buildings, cell towers or street-level poles. This can be implemented in a fraction of the time and cost of physical fiber cables.

As part of the partnership, Exclusive Networks will sell Transcelestial’s solutions in all ten markets to their current customer base of Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Enterprises.

“We look forward to meeting the market with Transcelestial, leveraging our wide network in Asia Pacific. Exclusive Networks is putting its trust and weight into this partnership to address what COVID-19 has made most urgent in the telecom industry – an accelerated rollout of transformational network upgrades. We see a distinct and timely opportunity here for first-movers to lead the charge and define the future of connectivity,” said Brad Gray, Senior Vice President, APAC at Exclusive Networks.

Transcelestial’s expansion plan will be spearheaded by Charles Han – Transcelestial’s newly appointed Global Channel Strategy and Program Lead, who previously held senior leadership roles at VMware, Cisco and Citrix – and Sunny Tham, Transcelestial’s Global Channel Sales Lead, who has 20+ years senior leadership experience in Asia Pacific point-to-point Wireless Connectivity market.

“Visionary Mobile Network Operators and Internet Service Providers recognise that the rise in demand for 5G, broadband and general Internet usage will push our technology infrastructure to resolve challenges in Internet Distribution, with solutions ranging from Last Mile connectivity to Low Earth Orbit. The opportunity for Transcelestial’s technology to revolutionise both arenas is not far off – this is simply the first leap forward towards that mission,” said Charles Han, Global Channel Strategy and Program Lead of Transcelestial.

About Transcelestial

Transcelestial has mass-produced a solution for superfast global Internet distribution that leverages its proprietary Wireless Laser Communication Technology to create a wireless distribution network between buildings, traditional cell towers, street-level poles and other physical infrastructure – with a much lower total cost of operation than fiber for Mobile Network Operators, Internet Service Providers and enterprises.

In the longer-term, Transcelestial aims to develop a constellation of small satellites positioned in Low Earth Orbit, allowing their laser network to not only beam across cities but upwards to connect continents across the world too.

Transcelestial has won numerous industry and global awards such as SPIFFY San Andreas Award for Most Disruptive Technology by Telecom Council, Forbes 30 Under 30 to our CTO Dr. Mohammad Danesh, Edge 35 Under 35 to our CEO Rohit Jha, The Most Ambitious Start-Up in Photonics Award by The Optical Society (OSA), etc.

Founded in Dec 2016, the Transcelestial team is located in Singapore and is backed by major investors such as Wavemaker Partners, EDBI, Airbus Ventures, Kickstart Ventures, Cap Vista, SEEDS Capital (Enterprise SG), Entrepreneur First, Partech Ventures, 500 Startups, AirTree Ventures, Tekton Ventures, SGInnovate, SparkLabs Global Ventures, Michael Seibel (CEO of Y-Combinator, Founder of Twitch.tv), Charles Songhurst (Microsoft’s former Head of Corporate Strategy) and others.
